Why North and South pole of a magnet attract?

It may not look coherent to write on magnet after writing on software architecture and the advent of microservices and virtualization. But there is always an urge to go back to the basics. There are subject in your backyard which you read, cleared the exam but could not grasp it.

Recently I was reading BSS-OSS and then it went down to antenna and then to electromagnetism and then to magnet. 🙂

One question which I was always curious about was why North and South pole attract?

I am of a firm belief that if something is happening in nature, then the reason behind it is so strong that there is no better way to do it. It could be size of falling raindrop or arrangement of atom or arrangement of planetary system.

So have a look at the way magnetic lines move- they enter from south pole and exit from north pole and enter again from south pole. Have a look at the two diagrams below

You can observe the contrast right away. When South and North poles are brought close, their magnetic lines are in perfect alignment and harmony. However, its exactly opposite in case of two North poles brought close. The magnetic lines clash.

But natural the opposite poles attract and same poles repel.

And the mystery is resolved for me. Did your’s?
